By the arrival of the Lady Petham Packet, this week,
we ure put in possession of London Papers to the 29th of
May—such extracts from them, as time allowed will be
found in our columns.
We are happy to communicate to the Inhabitants of
this colony, that there is no likelihood of any Sequestra-
(ton of Alien-property, extending to this colony, or that
of Demerary.

LONDON.
May 26.—The dispatch from Lord Cathcart was pubs
lished in last night’s Gazette. It gives an account, as we
mentioned yesterday, of the battle of Lutzen, nearly to
the same effect as the statement we have already given,
extracted from the German papers,- and which was also
transmitted by his Lordship and inserted in the Gazette.
Lord Cathcart states, that the Allies remained masters of
the field, when night put av end to the battle on the 2d,
and were prepared to renew the action the next morning,
but that the encmy retired from the contest. From the
subsequent movements, however (as stated in the Paris
papers) he appears only to have retired for the purpose of
gaining an advantage by man@uviring and thus compelling
the Allics to retreat.
The Gazette also contains a dispatch from Sir Joha
Borlase Warren, stating the particulars of the capture of
some vessels on the coast of the United States.
Some additional advices were receiyed yesterday from
the United States ; those from Baltimore are to the 29th
nit.
We regret to learn that the Chesapeake has got info
Boston with all her prizes, oue of which is valued as high
4s 180,000 dollars, exclusive of the ship, estimated at
(0,000 dollars. Ithas been erroneously reported that the
Mssex had entered the same harbour, She is yetat sca.
The Maryland Gasetle of the 15th of A pril, contains a
series of letters purporting to-be written by Joel Barlow
to his Government, at the close of 1811. They allege,
that the following ofiers were made to Mr. Jefferson, aud
renewed to Mr. Madison, as the reward for commencing
hostilities with Great Britain.
1. Under the guarantee of France, the Presidency of the
Republic was to continue four life in the person of the oc.
cupant,
2. One million of francs, or more, if necessary, to be paid
(o the President from the French ‘Treasury.
3. Three thousand French Officers to be sent to Amesica,
and to be placed at the disposal of the President,
4. Ten French ships of the linc, to be officered and
manned principalty by the Americaus and to be at the dis.
posal of the same authority.

LONDON.
May 27.—Last night we received Paris Papers to the
i9th inst. containing oflicial intelligence from the armyy
(o the evening of the 12th. There has been no further
fighting, except some skirmishing on the Elbe, at Dresden ;
but Bonaparte has unfortunately obtained an advantage
equivalent to a victory, in the co-operation of the King
of Saxony with al his troops. ‘This Monarch and Bona.
parte met on the morning of the 12th, aod after embrac.
iug, entered Dresden together, at the head of the French
[Imperial Guard. ‘Thus terminates a'l the boasted devoti-
on to the cause of the Allies of the Saxoui troops, 12,000
of whom are placed under the command of the French.
General Regnier at Torgau, and the whole of the Saxon
cavalry were to assemble on the 13th, under French aus.
pices, at Dresden.
Ney was at Wittenberg, upon which place Victor with
the 2d coeps, and Selastiani with the corps of cavalry,
were also marching. Bertrand with the 4th corps was ¢
Keenigsbruck ; Marmont with the 6th corps, at Reichen.
bach ; and Oudinot, and the young and old guards at
Dresden.
Beauharvois with the 11th corps, was on the 11th at
Bischoffswerda, but on the 12th it appears, that Bonaparte
had ordered him to proceed to Milan on a Special Mission,
Why he is thus sent away from active servicein the Came
paign, or for what object be is to go to Milan, remains at
prescut @ mystery,
View original A Proclamation is given in these Papers addressed by
Bonaparte to his army, dated from his Camp at Lutzen
on the 3d, in which he thanks them for the victory, and
designates the battle of Lutzen as superior to those of
‘ Austerlitz, Jena, Friedland, and Moskwa. In its con-
clusion he talks of driving back the Tartars (as he calls
the Russians,) to their frightful climates,, and speaks of
frozen deserts, as if he yet felt the elect of the cold he
experienced in Russia.

LONDON.
Muay 28.—We had the mortification yesterday to receive
advices from a Gentleman who has just arrived at Yar-
mouth, stating, that after a series of fruitless negociations
to procure the assistance of the Danes for the protection
of Hamburgh, the detachment which had entered the place
quitted it on the 17th inst, and it was arranged that the
French should enter it on the following day.
Letters from Berlin, of the 11th of this month, state,
that the defence of that City was confided to General
Bulow, but that he had not with him any considerable
force. .
The Crown Prince of Sweden sailed from Carlscrona
on the 14th inst. Onthe 17th, a confidential agent of his
Royal Highness set off from London, to proceed to fam-
burgh, with dispatches from Lord Castlereagh. He was
to mect the Prince at that City ; or not finding him there,
he was to continue his route through Mecklenbarg, to
deliver his dispatches by the earliest opportunity.
Letters from Paris to the 22d inst. were said to be
intown yesterday, stating that Austria had determined to
support France, and as a reward for this service was to
have restored to her not only Trieste and Fiume, but also.
her Venetian territories.
We do not believe, however, that any such letters have
been received, .
A Ministerial Paper assures us that the Duke of Cum.
berland is not going to the Continent with a matrimonial
view. We certainly never suspected that he had any such
intention: nor is he goin gany on military expedition—for
we believe that it has been actually in imated to his Roya!
Highness, that he is not expected to honour the Emperor
of Russia with his presence, at the head quarters of the
Allied Armies. What he is gowe for, or where he is going,
we pretend not to know.

LONDON.
May 99,—Paris Papers to the 2 ithinstaat reached town
last night, containing inteiligence from chearmy to the even.
ing of the 16th. Bonaparte at that time remained at Dres-
den, but the whole of the french army is stated (o have
passed the ibe. ‘Phe Prussian troops, we ave told, took
the road to Bautzen for the purpose of joining the Ras-i-
ans, aud M’Donald, w ho appears to have succeeded Beau.
harnois in the command of the ifth corps, a'so macched
in that direction. In the neighbourhood of Dautzen, four
actious are stated to have been fought, in which the Allies
lost 1500 killed and wounded, and 500 prisoners, but the
account given of these affairs is obscure and confused, and
we suspect they did not terminate much to the advantage
of the French, who appear to hare made little or no ad-
vance of position. Victor, who in the last account was
stated to be marching on Wittenberg, is now mentioned
to be near that fortress. Ney who was before said to ba
at Wittenberg, is now only stated to have left Torgau to
proceed to Lukav. Bertrand remained at Keenigsbruck,
and Lauriston was marching from Torgau on Dobrelugk.
Sebastiani who was before stated to be marching on Witten.
berg, is not mentioned.
Great indignation is expressed by Bonaparte, at the ca-
pitulation of Spandau, and General Bruny, the Command.
ing Engineer, is ordered to be tried for not making a bet-
ter defence. The capitulation of Thorn also, is ordered
to become the subject of inquiry.
Amongst other things also we are told that the Russians
" have advised the Prussians to burn Potsdam and Berlin,
and lay Prussia waste.
EXTRACT OF AN OFFICIAL DISPATCH FROM GENERAL THE
MARQUIS OF WELLINGTON TO HIS EXCELLENCY DON M.
PEREIRA FORJAZ, DATED HEAD-QUARTERS, FRENADA,
5TH OF MAY.
‘Since I have transmitted to your Excellency my au.
terior dispatch of the 28th ultimo, I have received accounts,
which, although they ere not official, 1 believe them, in-
View original forming me that Marstei Suchet, on the ilth of April,
attacked the left of tne positfon whitch the Allied Anglo
Sicilian Army occupied, under the command of General
Elio, aud that in the beginning Suchet obtained some ad-
vantages in Yecla and Villena, over a division of the Se-
cond Army, commanded by Brigadier Meyares. It ne-
vertheless appears that Sir J. Murray united all the corps
under his command on the evening of the 12th, which ope-
ration was covered by an advanced guard placed in Blar,
which retired npon the main army ; and that General Elio,
with the second army, covered the left of the Allied An-
gto Sicilian army in its new position: the Spanish divi-
sions of Gen. Whittingham and Roche being on the right.
*<It seems Gen. Suchet marched on the 13th towards
Castella, attacked the left of the positivu occupied by the
Allied Anglo-Sicilian Army, and was driven back with
considerable loss—the cuspy in consequence retired, and,
according to what I earn, Sir John Murray was still pur-
suing him on the 16th, which, 1 suppose, is the reason of
my not having hitherto received any official information of
those events,
‘*The cuemy has made no more movements of importance
on this side. On the 27th ult. he sent a small detachment
towards Tuoledo—nevertheless there ixno appearance of any
movement in that direction.”
Paris, May 21.—Her Majesty the Empress Queen and
Regent has received the following information of tho si-
(uation of the armics on the 16th in the evening : .|
*fOn the 15th the Emperor and the hing of Saxony re-
viewed four regiments of Saxon cavalry, (one of hussars,
one of lancers, and two of cuirasseurs), which from part
of Gen. Latous Maubourg’s corps. ‘Their Majesties af-
terwards visited the ficld of battle, at the tete-de-punt of
Preilnitz.
“¢The Duke of Tarente put himself in motion on the 15th
at five in the morning, to march opposite Bautzen. He
met at the debouch some of the enemy’s roar guard ; some
charges of cavalry were altempted against our cavalry,
but unsuccessfully ; the enemy, however wishing tu main-
tain himself in this position, a fire of musketry took place
and he was driven from the post. We had 250 meu killed
or wounded in this rearguard aflair.
**' The enemy’s loss is estimated at from 7 to 800 men, of
whom 200 are prisoners,
**' Phe second division of the young guard, commanded b)
General Barrois, arrived at Dresden yesterday.
‘6 All the army has passed the Litbe, independently of the
grand bridge at Dresden, two bridges of boats have been
established, the one above, the other below the town.
The Berlin Gazette of the 8th contains the regulation
for the Landstrum., Folly cannot be carried further, but
it may be foreseen that the inhabitanss of Prussia have too
much goud sense, and are too much attached to the real
principles of propricty to imitate barbarians, who hold
nothing sacred, At the battle of Lutzen a regiment com-
posed of the clite of the Prussian, nobility, aud who were
called Prussian Cossacs, were entirely destroy ed ; ouly 15
men belonging to it remain, which has covered all their
jamilics with mourning. These Cossace really seigned
themselves Cassacs of the Doa.—Tender delicate young
men had Jances in their hands which they could scarcely
support, aud were dressed like real Cossacs. — W hat would
Frederich say, if he saw his Grcat Nephew at this day
secking models of uniform, aud appearance from thens?—
‘The Cossacs are ill-clothed, they are mounted upon smal!
horses, almost without saddles and harness, because they
are irregular militia, which the inhabitants of the Don
furnish, and which are established at their expence. ‘T'o
go there to seek for a model for the nobility of Prussia,
isto shew to what point the spirit of folly and incompe-
tency is carried which directs the affairs of that kingdom.
Four Englishmen, who left Hamburgh to seck safety
at Altona, received a message from the Chief Magistrate
of that City, that they must quit it in tweatyfour hours,
as he could not grant them his protection. Accordingly,
at the risque of their lives, they procured a vessel, which
conveyed them to Heligoland.

SWEDEN, Carlscrone, May.8
The Priuce Royal, Gencraliissimo, to his Brethren in

dom, and to act offensively wherever the honour and in.
terest of the country require. They will be commanded
by Marshals Toll and Essen. Give them all your cons
fidence—You oweit to their services, their patriotism, and
‘their experience.
‘In separating from my King, my son, and from you
for some time, it is not to disturb the repose of nations,
but to co-operate in the great work of a general peace,
for which Sovereigns and Nations have sighed for so many
years,
“Soldiers!—A new career of glory, and sources of
prosperity are opening toour country. ‘Treaties founded
upon sound policy, and which have the tranquillity of
the North for these object, guarantee the union of the
people of Scandinavia. «Let us make ourselves worthy of
the splendid destiny that is promised us, and let not the
people who stretch out their arms to us have ever cause
to repent their confidence.
**Soldiers !—Our ancestors distinguished themsalves by
their bold daring, and their steady courage—Let us unite
to these warlike virtues the enthusiasm of military hovour,
and God will protect our arms.
